Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modren era of techonlogy some people think that advertising is exetremely successful at persuading us to buy things while other debate that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. I strongly believe that advertising is really important and it make people to buy the products.

On the one hand, people believe advertising persuade them to buy products.Yes it is true many people buy different things after watching that products' advertisment. For instance, a person who never brought a some product before he saw the advertisment of that product and get to know about that product details he sure will buy it. I myself if get to know about substance that I never used before I will buy it if it help me with something. For example, a person saw an advertisment of new flavour of icecream he will get it and in this way advertisment is persuading him to buy the things. It is only true if the advertisment has something special in it.

On the other hand, people thinks that now people no longer pay attention to these advertisment. According to them it is now way more common that people started to ignoring these advertisment. For example, a person saw an advertisment of something that he is not interested in he for sure will ignore it unless it is unique. As those people who think that now people not give a damn to that thing video or post and just ignore that. I think it has a reasonn behind it and I believe that this is due to a same advertisment. Most people now copy one another and people are bored of watching almost the same marketing statergy so they does not take the advertisment serious.

In conclusion, I agree with that advertising is extremely successfull at persuading people to buy new products onlu if it has a unique way to show the procducts.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state your position: advertising can persuade people, particularly when it presents something unique. The examples about trying a new product and an ice-cream flavour are relevant, and you also explain that repeated, similar adverts can make people ignore them. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view relies on hypothetical examples, while the second makes broad claims about people copying one another without explaining this connection in detail. Your conclusion repeats your preference but does not fully reconcile it with the opposing view. Develop each side with a clearer explanation of how or why advertising affects consumers, and make your final position more balanced and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: several ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sentences, and the first paragraph repeats the point that people buy products after seeing adverts. Some links are unclear, such as “As those people who think…” and “I think it has a reasonn behind it,” which interrupt the flow. Use clearer topic sentences, divide examples from explanations, and make references such as “that thing” more specific. This would create a more consistent progression rather than relying mainly on basic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “persuading,” “unique,” “ignore,” and “marketing strategy,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “advertisment” and “people.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “modren,” “exetremely,” “brought” where “bought” is intended, and “does not take the advertisment serious.” Some expressions, such as “does not give a damn,” are too informal for this essay. Aim for more precise, appropriately formal wording and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe consumers as “becoming desensitised to repetitive advertising” rather than saying they “no longer pay attention” in every instance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional ideas such as “if it has a unique way to show the products.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to follow. Examples include “it make people to buy,” “people thinks,” and “they does not take,” where subject–verb agreement and verb patterns are incorrect. The sentence beginning “For instance, a person who never brought…” also shifts awkwardly between past and present forms and lacks a clear main clause. Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries are inconsistent. Practise accurate agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses and appropriate punctuation.
