Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, advertisement is an important part of our daily lives. Some people believe that advertisements are very successful to encouraging people to buy products, while other believe that advertisements have become so common in modern society so people no longer pay attention. This essay will discuss both views and explain my opinion.
On the one hand, advertisements can strongly influence people to buy unnecessary things. Companies use catchy slogans, attractive pictures and famous celebrities to promote thier products. These techniques make encourage people to try them. For example, when a popular and famous actress and influencer promote a particular cloth brand and mobile phone, many fans may want to buy it. Moreover, advertisements can provide information about new brands and products with special offers and discounts, which can attract consumers and increase sales.
On the other hand, many people believe that advertising has become very common in modern society. We seen lots of advertisements on television, social media, websites and even at public place such as bus station and railway station. As a result, people often ignore them because they not longer need it. For instance, many internet users skip advertisements before watching a video or use applications that block ads. In my opinion, although people sometimes ignore advertisements, they still have to significant influence on our choices. A well-designed advertisements can attract consumers and creat interest in a product.
In conclusion, while a large number of advertisements has made some people less interested in them, advertising remains an effective way to influence buying decision.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: advertising can be ignored, but it still influences choices. The examples of celebrity promotion, discounts, skipped online ads and ad-blocking are relevant and help explain each side. This meets the task well, but the two positions are not developed equally: the first view has several persuasive techniques, while the explanation of why people ignore advertising is brief and largely limited to its ubiquity and skipping ads. Your opinion is stated, though it could be supported more fully—for example, by explaining when advertising remains persuasive despite people’s exposure to it. More balanced development and a sharper distinction between the two views would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation explicit. Examples are generally placed beside the points they support. To make the flow more natural, reduce reliance on formulaic transitions and connect ideas within paragraphs more precisely. For instance, the move from people ignoring ads to your opinion that they still influence choices could explain the contrast more directly. The conclusion also repeats the main argument rather than drawing together the reasons behind your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “catchy slogans,” “promote,” “special offers,” “consumers,” and “block ads.” These choices make the discussion clear, and some phrases are appropriately specific. However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors limit precision: “successful to encouraging,” “cloth brand,” “creat interest,” and “buying decision” are not natural or accurate forms. There is also repetition of “advertisements” and “people,” where more varied references could improve flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your vocabulary sound more controlled without needing unusually advanced terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “although people sometimes ignore advertisements” and a relative clause in “which can attract consumers and increase sales.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “other believe” instead of a plural verb, “These techniques make encourage,” “We seen,” and “they not longer need it.” There are also agreement and article issues in “A well-designed advertisements” and “a large number of advertisements has made.” Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and singular/plural noun patterns. More accurate control of these structures, alongside your existing sentence variety, would make the argument smoother and clearer.
