Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify both views and state, “I partly agree,” so the response does attempt the main parts of the question. However, the discussion does not clearly explain why advertising persuades people or why its constant presence might make them ignore it. Examples about markets, social media and online shopping are mentioned, but their connection to the two views is often unclear, and your own opinion is not developed. The response also ends abruptly with “In” and contains only 177 words, 73 short of the required 250; 37 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, explain each view with a relevant example, state your position clearly, and complete the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response has an introductory paragraph and uses “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” to signal two sides, which gives it a basic structure. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow: the first paragraph shifts from markets to social media and then to whether people are attracted by advertising, without clear links between these points. The second repeats that advertising is common and successful rather than developing a distinct argument. Some sentences are hard to connect, and the final “In” leaves the essay unfinished. Organise each body paragraph around one view, explain the point before adding an example, and use clear references to show how each sentence relates to the previous one.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “advertising,” “social media,” “online shopping” and “compares prices,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and several expressions are repeated or inaccurately formed, such as “advertisingsthing,” “hosehold items” and “most common in the society.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Aim to use precise phrases for the task, such as “influence purchasing decisions” and “become accustomed to advertisements,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. You can also avoid repeating “some people” by using clear alternatives such as “consumers” or “viewers,” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt simple statements and some longer sentence forms, and the reader can understand parts of your argument. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include “I partly agree this view,” “Some people attracts advertising” and “the other people thinks,” where the verb patterns or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “because easy available in the home.” Several sentences run together or lack clear punctuation, and the unfinished final word leaves the response incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then connect them with clauses using “because” or “although.” Proofread for agreement, articles and complete sentences.
