Student answer (Band 5.0)

basically in todays generation advertisements are playing very big role they encourages us to buy things that we even don't need, today everyone uses social media accounts to explore new things and new people on internet, on these social apps we came to see so much adds because these apps are paid to show these adds, mostly people buy thimgs online just because of these adds, because these advertisements attracts us by sharing the things we are intrested in or new things we even don't know about them, basically in this generation ai is holding a big role our phones are smart at that atages that they even hear us talking, so mostly when we Open our social accounts they show us those things about what we are talking or stalking on google or youtube. even our social apps are stalking us about what we like what we are attracted about, if i talk about myselves i don't buy any thing from advertisements because i think these are fake but our social accounts have an eye on us they show us what we are looking for so i bought some phone cases and watches from advertisements, this is how they ,manipulates us to buy something that even we are not interested or want,

on the other hand these advertisements are no time of waste beacuse everyone on Instagram, facebook, and on some other apps paying for advertising their buisness and this make us frustrated because after watching so many adds we became angry even mostly these adds are fake generated by ai to show some and when we order they give low quality things so people are becoming frustrated about these advertisements. But on the other hand these adds are beneficial for us by watching these advertisements we came to know about what new is going on or what new business is starting nearby, these advertisements are useless but also usefull in some cases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: advertising can persuade people to buy, while its constant presence can frustrate or be ignored. Your examples about targeted social-media adverts and poor-quality products are relevant, and you include a personal opinion that adverts can be misleading yet sometimes useful. However, the position is not consistently clear: you first say you do not buy from adverts, then explain that you bought phone cases and watches because of them. The discussion also needs fuller development of the second view—being annoyed by adverts is not quite the same as no longer paying attention to them. State your position clearly in the introduction and explain each view with a focused example and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from advertising’s persuasive influence to its disadvantages and possible benefits, and phrases such as “on the other hand” signal a change in direction. However, the first section is one very long sentence, and the second section also contains several ideas joined together without clear boundaries. This makes the progression difficult to follow and sometimes obscures how points relate. The repeated use of “basically” and “on the other hand” does not always create a clear contrast, especially when the final sentence presents both sides without resolving them. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “advertisements,” “social media,” “frustrated,” “fake,” and “low quality.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, but the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “adds/advertisements” and “new things.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “thimgs,” “intrested,” “buisness,” and “usefull,” which reduce accuracy and polish. Some expressions are imprecise, for example “no time of waste” and “stalking us,” where more conventional wording would make your meaning clearer. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express connected and complex ideas, including explanations of how targeted adverts influence purchases. However, many sentences are joined with commas rather than being separated or structured with appropriate conjunctions, as in the opening sentence and the long passage beginning “because these advertisements attracts us.” This creates run-ons and makes relationships between clauses hard to follow. There are frequent errors in agreement and verb forms, such as “they encourages,” “these advertisements attracts,” and “we came to see,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas using accurate subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement and use full stops to mark the end of each main idea.
