Student answer (Band 5.0)
IT IS OFTEN ARGUED BY SOME PEOPLE THAT ADVERTISING IS EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL OR NOT. FOR ADVERTISMENT OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF THINGS TO BUY. I BELIEVE THAT ADVERTISING IS USEFUL FOR MAKING OUR PRODUCT WELL KNOW IN THE SOCIETY. BECAUSE ADVERTISING REALLY HELP TO BUILT COSTUMER AND TO SALLING OUR PRODUCT FAST.
ONE MAJOR REASON FOR EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL AT PERSUADING US TO BUY THINGS IS MAINLY PEOPLE ARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND TV AND WHEN THE WATCH THEIR DEVICES THEY FOUND ADVERTISMENT OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF THINGS, FOR EXAMPLE INDIA IS VERY POPULATED COUNTRY MORE THAN 1.5 BILLION POPULATION LIVED IN. AND THERE ARE SO MANY COMPINIES ARE IN INDIA THAT PRODUCE DIFFERENT TYPE OF VEHICALS. SO THEY ADVERTISE THEIR VEHICALS ON THE SOCIAL MEDIAS AND TV AS ADVERTISMENT. THEREFORE MANY PEOPLE TRUST ON THEM AND THEY BUY IT FOR THEIR DAILY USES. AND THEN THEY REALLY HELP TO UY THINGS.
ON THE OTHER HAND ADVERTISING ALSO HELP TO BUILT NETWORKS IN WORLD WIDE IN DIFFERENT TYPE OF ACTIVITIES LIKE IN SPORTS, FILM INDUSTRY, FOOD, VEHICALS AND MANY MORE THINGS THAT ARE STILL SURROUNDING IN OUR SOCIETY. FOR EXAMPLE, CRICKET IS WERE KNOWN GAME IN WORLD WIDE NOW A DAYS BUT IN PAST LIKE IN 1990 CRICKET WERE PLAYED BY FEW COUNTRIES BUT NOW CRICKET IS VERY KNOWN IN WORLD WIDE WITH THE HELP OF ADVERTISING. AND CRICKET IS ALSO VERY DOVELOPING GAME IN WORLD NOW A DAYS. THEREFORE CRICKET BOOST THEIR FAN FOLLOWING AND ALSO GENERATE MORE WEALTH IN THEIR OWN GAME.
IN CONCLUSION, I BELIEVE THAT ADVERTISING IS EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL AND SUCCESSFUL AT PERSUADING US TO BUY THINGS. BECAUSE THEY PERSUADING TO BUY THE THINGS THAT ARE ADVERTISING ON THE PLATFORMS AND ALSO THEY GIVE THEIR PITCH SO WELL DEFINED THAT ALL PEOPLE WANT TO BUY THEM.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you believe advertising is beneficial and successful at encouraging purchases. The paragraph about social media, television and vehicle companies is relevant to the view that advertising persuades consumers. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing view—that advertising is so widespread that people ignore it—is not explained. The paragraph beginning “On the other hand” discusses advertising’s role in promoting cricket, rather than showing that people have become less attentive to advertisements. Your examples also need clearer explanation of how they support your claims. Address both stated views directly and develop each with a focused reason and example. (Eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Your response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate different points. You also use linking expressions such as “therefore,” “for example” and “on the other hand.” However, progression is difficult to follow because several sentences are joined by repeated “and,” and some links do not show a clear relationship between ideas. For instance, the cricket example shifts from advertising to the game’s popularity and wealth without clearly connecting those points. “On the other hand” also signals a contrast that the paragraph does not actually develop. Organise each body paragraph around one of the two views, then use clear topic sentences and explain how each example supports that view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “persuading,” “social media,” “companies” and “fan following,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. There are also attempts to express broader ideas, such as advertising helping to “build networks” and “generate more wealth.” However, vocabulary is repetitive, and inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations sometimes make the meaning harder to understand. Examples include “advertisment,” “well know,” “salling,” and “cricket is were known.” Phrases such as “trust on them” and “different type of things” are also not natural in this context. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with examples and cause-and-effect links, and your overall position can be understood. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. For example, “Because advertising really help…” is a fragment, while “when the watch their devices they found…” has problems with subject, verb form and tense. Agreement errors also occur in “advertising also help” and “many companies are in India that produce.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with several long sentences joined by “and” and full stops separating closely connected ideas. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, tense and punctuation in each sentence.
