Student answer (Band 6.0)
Advertising plays an important role in our daily lives. Some people argues that advertising is successful to encouraging us to buy something but some individuals think that it is common these days, people do not give attention to this kind of advertisings. In the way I see, although advertising effects purchasing but it cannot bound people to buying. This essay will discuss both views.
On the one hand, advertising encourage public to buy new products which are popular on the internet. Although It attracts customers by offering new deals and discounts. Companies displays their products in attractive ways to gain customers attention and bought their products. For example, people may buy products after watching attractive advertisements. Moreover, public watch different advertisements on TV about phones, clothes and food items. Consequently, they became often decided to buy these things. Also, special offers and discounts persuade people to spend their money.
On the other hand, advertising have became too common, customers do not take them serious. Customers watch advertisements on TV and mobile phones everyday, therefore they often ignored them. For instance, people often skip advertisements while watching videos on YouTube or scroll past them on social media. Furthermore, some customers prefer to compare prices and quality before buying anything. This shows that advertisements do not always influence people's decisions.
In conclusion, although many people ignore advertisements, I believe that advertisements still has an effect on buying decisions. However, people's preferences and budget also plays an important role in what they choose to buy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: advertising can affect purchasing, but it cannot force people to buy. The two body paragraphs stay relevant, with examples such as discounts encouraging purchases and viewers skipping YouTube adverts. This meets the task well, although the discussion is not equally developed throughout. The first view is supported with several reasons, while the second relies mainly on ignoring adverts and comparing products; explaining more fully why repeated exposure may make advertising less persuasive would strengthen the balance. Your conclusion restates your position and adds the role of preferences and budget. To develop the response further, explain the cause-and-effect links behind your examples rather than relying on broad claims such as people deciding to buy after seeing an attractive advert.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and examples generally appear beside the points they support. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover,” “Also,” and “Furthermore,” and a few connections between sentences are not fully clear. For example, “Consequently, they became often decided to buy these things” does not express the relationship smoothly. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make each sentence’s link to the paragraph’s main idea explicit. Check spacing and punctuation around sentence openings as well.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “deals and discounts,” “customers,” “purchasing,” “compare prices and quality,” and “social media.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and there is some variation beyond very basic wording. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision, such as “successful to encouraging,” “give attention,” “take them serious,” and “bound people to buying.” There is also repetition of “advertising,” “people,” and “buy,” and some word forms are not appropriate in context. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and vary repeated terms where the meaning remains clear. More precise wording would make your argument sound more natural and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “although,” “while,” and “before.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and the paragraph structure helps readers follow it. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction recur: “Some people argues,” “advertising encourage,” “Companies displays,” and “advertising have became” need correction. The sentence “Although It attracts customers…” is also an incomplete construction when separated from the preceding sentence, while “people's preferences and budget also plays” has an agreement error. These are grammatical issues rather than vocabulary choices. Practise checking the subject and verb in each clause, and ensure subordinate clauses are attached to a complete main clause. Greater accuracy in these patterns would improve control.
