Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You introduce both viewpoints and state a position: advertising can attract people to useful household products. However, the response only begins to discuss the first view, with claims about developing buyers’ interest and finding cost-effective goods. The opposing view—that advertising is so widespread that people ignore it—is not explained, and your own opinion is not supported with reasons or examples. The essay also ends mid-sentence, so the discussion is incomplete. The response is 83 words, below the required 250, which leaves too little space to address the task. To improve, explain each view in a separate developed paragraph, give a clear reason or example for each, and conclude by restating your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic and your opinion, and “ON ONE HAND” signals the start of a supporting point. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, the paragraph does not develop beyond one incomplete point, and there is no contrasting paragraph or conclusion to create an overall progression. The linking phrases “WHILE” and “IN ADDITION” are present, but the relationship between ideas remains unclear because the supporting explanation is unfinished. Use distinct paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, connect each claim to an explanation or example, and finish with a conclusion. This would make the organisation more complete and the links between ideas easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “advertisement,” “buyers,” “electronic devices,” and “cost effective,” and the examples show an effort to be specific. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to read, such as “advertisment,” “intrest,” “usefull,” and “ho ushhold” (written as “HOUSHOLD”). Some expressions are also unnatural or unclear: “catch best useful objects” does not convey the intended idea precisely, and “advertisement work as backbone” is an awkward collocation. Build accuracy with common IELTS phrases such as “attract consumers,” “promote products,” and “affordable goods.” Check spelling and use words in natural combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes a few attempts at longer sentence patterns, particularly the opening contrast using “while” and the phrase “that’s why.” These show an effort to connect clauses rather than rely only on isolated statements. However, control is inconsistent: “advertisement play key role” has subject–verb agreement and article problems, while “advertisement help peoples” also has agreement and plural-form errors. The final sentence is incomplete, ending after “cost effective,” and punctuation is often missing or misplaced, making sentence boundaries hard to identify. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, checking agreement and articles, and using full stops to separate ideas. A wider range of accurately controlled sentence forms would improve clarity.
