Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear opinion in the conclusion that advertising encourages people to buy products, and you provide relevant examples such as celebrity endorsements and online sales. However, the discussion is unbalanced: the reasons advertising persuades consumers are developed more than the opposing view, which is mainly that people skip adverts during shows. The task asks you to discuss both views, so explain more fully why repeated exposure may make advertising ineffective and support this with an example. Your response contains 205 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 15 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. This shortfall also limits the space available to develop your ideas and make your position clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response begins with the two views, gives reasons in the following paragraphs, and ends with your opinion. The contrastive phrase “On the other hand” helps signal a change in viewpoint. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear because several different points are crowded into one paragraph, particularly the information about product use, expiry dates, celebrities, and online offers. The opposing view is also brief, and the conclusion introduces a new suggestion about VFX rather than drawing together the discussion. Use separate paragraphs for each view, connect each example directly to its main point, and use clear references so readers can follow how the ideas relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertising,” “product,” “sales,” “offers,” and “social media,” so the main subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “advertising,” “people,” and “product.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “full information,” “pay longer attention,” and “reasonable price,” while spelling errors such as “streamelly,” “infirmation,” and “intersted” make the writing less clear. Aim to use more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe adverts as “persuasive,” say consumers “pay little attention,” and refer to products being sold “at an affordable price.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors that make the reader work to understand them. For example, “Advertising give information how to use it” needs subject–verb agreement and a clearer clause structure, while “some people think that now advertising is so common so no mostly people not pay longer attention to it” has problems with word order and sentence construction. There are also recurring issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, including the run-on sentence about social media and television. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex forms using “because,” “although,” or “which.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
