Student answer (Band 5.0)

Advertising has been a main tool in bussiness sector for many years. Many people believe that it is still effective method to attract people's attention while others think that it stopped serving as usual no longer. In my perspective, advertising plays great role in our daily lives.

In the beginning, advertising something or someone is essential part of many sectors, such bussiness or political. It has been triggered people successfully over the decades. We can see and feel the power of advertising from political election, or just coke's advertisement. In addition, there are many psychological surveys that how advertising affects people's perceive. Speaker's voice tone, colour, word, even word locations are really important. In other words, it is an art of persuading humans. I think, advertising will be still powefull in thw future.

On the other hand, the more technology advances, the more people develops. They stopped surprising any big news. Therefore, there is a chance that people will not pay attention to advertising no longer especially younger generations. They are having insight about human's psychology and how advertisements play at it.

To sum up, although people are having great insights thanks to technological advencements, it is possible that advertising still stands powerfully and attracts people's attention. It depends on people's mindset who are making advertisment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state your own position, particularly in the introduction and conclusion, where you argue that advertising remains influential despite people becoming more aware of it. The examples of political campaigns and a Coca-Cola advertisement are relevant, and the discussion of younger people losing interest begins to cover the opposing view. However, the ideas are only briefly explained: the second view needs a clearer account of why advertising’s ubiquity makes people ignore it, and the examples are not developed to show how persuasion works. Your position also shifts slightly between saying advertising plays a great role and suggesting its success depends on advertisers’ mindsets. The response is below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can develop the discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and transitions such as “On the other hand” and “To sum up” help signal changes in focus. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from business and politics to psychological surveys without explaining the links between these points. Some connections are also awkward or repetitive, including “In addition” followed by “In other words,” while the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Develop each paragraph around one clear claim, then connect its explanation and example explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “persuading,” “psychological,” “technology advances,” and “younger generations,” so the reader can understand the general discussion. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret, such as “stopped serving as usual no longer,” “triggered people,” and “advertising plays great role.” Spelling errors, including “bussiness,” “powefull,” and “advencements,” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise phrases that express the intended idea naturally, such as describing advertising as “influencing consumer behaviour” or saying that people “become desensitised to repeated advertisements.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few complex structures, including “the more technology advances, the more people develops” and the concessive opening “although people are having great insights.” However, sentence patterns are often limited, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some ideas hard to follow. Examples include “it is still effective method,” “advertising something or someone is essential part,” and “there are many psychological surveys that how advertising affects.” The final sentence, “It depends on people’s mindset who are making advertisment,” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check subject–verb agreement and article use.
