Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the topic by presenting both the persuasive effect of advertising and the view that it is common or unnecessary, and you state your own opinion: “advertising is good way to promote things.” However, the discussion is only partial and the ideas are mostly listed rather than explained. For example, you mention that adverts show benefits and attract buyers, but do not explain how this persuasion works or give a specific example. The opposing view is also brief, and the final opinion is not supported with reasons. The response is 85 words below the required minimum, which limits how fully you can develop each part. Expand both viewpoints and support your position with clear explanations or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce advertising, give your opinion, present the opposing view, and list advantages and disadvantages. This gives the reader some sense of the topic’s different aspects. However, ideas are not arranged into clear, developed paragraphs, and progression is difficult to follow. The repeated phrases “some people say” and “they think” do not clearly connect the points, while the lists of advantages and disadvantages appear without explanation or links to the discussion. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect each claim to its explanation with simple linking phrases such as “for example” and “as a result.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “advertising,” “promote,” “product,” “benefits,” and “social media,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, especially the repeated use of “add,” “attract,” and “things.” Several word choices or forms make meaning unclear, such as “social media person more attract” and “Mis guide.” Spelling and word-form problems also affect clarity. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for the two views, such as “influence purchasing decisions,” “advertising fatigue,” and “raise awareness.” Check spelling and choose precise nouns and verbs so that each point is easy to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most of the response uses short, simple statements, and the reader can recognise the intended topic in many places. There is little evidence of varied sentence structures, however, and frequent errors in basic grammar sometimes obscure meaning. Examples include “Advertising is play vital role,” “advertising have type,” and “It's create awareness”; these need correct verb forms and agreement, such as “Advertising plays a vital role” and “It creates awareness.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also often missing, as in “add show benefits that why people attract.” Practise building complete sentences with a subject and correctly formed verb, then combine related ideas using “because” or “although.”
