Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views by presenting advertising as a source of product information and discounts, while also explaining that it can encourage unnecessary purchases or mislead consumers. Your opinion is present, but it is difficult to follow: “it has both benefits and outweigh drawbacks” and the final sentence about customers being “more carefully” do not clearly state your position. The examples are relevant, but they need fuller explanation, and the discussion does not clearly compare the two views. The response contains 240 words, so it is 10 words below the required minimum; the 21 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each side more fully and state your opinion directly in the introduction and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages, so the reader can identify the main direction of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Thus customer can saved money” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, while “From my perspective” is followed by a confusing statement rather than a clear position. Several ideas are crowded together in long sentences. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to its main point, and make references such as “it” and “they” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “advertising,” “discount,” “consumers,” “celebrities,” and “misguided,” and you attempt to express ideas about both information and persuasion. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “advertising are provided useful information,” “consume to beautiful pictures,” “compulsive for buy false products,” and “assets” where a different term is needed. Spelling errors such as “Advertisment” and “prize” also reduce clarity. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing advertising, consumer choices, and misleading claims, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to use both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“If people are more carefully…”) and a contrast introduced by “However.” However, control is inconsistent, and faulty structures frequently make sentences hard to understand. For example, “advertising are provided useful information” has problems with agreement and verb construction, while “Individuals also spend a large amount of money, from which they are not need in really” is not grammatically complete. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “when any new mobile phone, cars…” and the missing spaces after full stops. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
