Student answer (Band 4.5)

People have diffrent views about the succes of advertising to persuad us tu purchase things. While some people beleive that the idvertising is a good idea for pursuading them to by thing, others argue that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention. In my opinion, i believe that advertising is very successful to pursuad people to buy things.

On the other hand, others argue that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention. One important reason is that advertising is every where in ower lives. For exemple all the places in the streams have a lot of advertising and it is boren and also make people don't have the curiosity to see what about it spOn the one hand, there are several reasons why some people believe that advertising persuad people to buy things. The main reasons that it help sellers to sell thier products withount any problem. For ewemple a company of shese who advertise his brand on the television help them to informe all the spectaters to knew about thier brand. I compleletly agree that advertising facilate thier comerce.

In conclusion, altought there are arguments on both sides, i believe that advertising is extremly succesful at pusuading us to by thing because it facilate the comerce of any brand

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear opinion—that advertising is successful—and you attempt to discuss both views. The point that advertising is everywhere and can become boring represents the opposing view, while the example of a cheese company using television explains how advertising can inform potential customers. However, the discussion is brief and the reasons are only minimally developed; the first viewpoint is especially difficult to follow because the example is unclear. The response also contains 194 words, below the required 250; 22 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each side with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example, and use the additional space to support your position rather than simply repeat it in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an identifiable introduction, discussion of the opposing view, discussion of your preferred view, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “On the one hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, the progression is disrupted: the paragraph beginning “On the other hand” is interrupted by “spOn the one hand,” making the order of ideas confusing. The two viewpoints would be easier to follow if each had its own complete paragraph, in a consistent order. Some connections between sentences are also unclear, particularly between the claim that advertising is everywhere and the example about “the places in the streams.” Use clear paragraph breaks and ensure each example directly follows and supports its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “advertising,” “products,” “brand,” and “spectators,” and you attempt phrases such as “persuading us to buy things” and “facilitate their commerce.” However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “advertising” and “buy things” recurring, while frequent spelling errors make the writing harder to understand: examples include “diffrent,” “succes,” “pursuading,” and “extremly.” Some word choices are also unclear or unsuitable, such as “the places in the streams” and “it is boren.” Build a more precise vocabulary for the topic and check spelling carefully. For instance, explain where advertisements appear and describe whether they are ignored, rather than relying on unclear phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While some people believe…” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “the main reasons that it help sellers” has faulty clause structure and subject–verb agreement, while “make people don't have the curiosity” uses an incorrect construction. There are also problems with articles, pronouns, and sentence boundaries, as in “a company … who advertise his brand.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs. Then practise combining ideas using “because,” “although,” and relative clauses, checking agreement and punctuation in each sentence.
