Student answer (Band 5.0)

People have different views whether about advertising is excessively successful at persuading us to buy things or it is so common that we don’t want to pay attention to it. While every arguments has valid reason, I partially agree with this statement for making our interest for this product alongside extreme advertisement waste our valuable time.

Firstly, whenever we watch a advertisement for multiple times, it increases our interest for that in an intense level. For example : During scrolling on social media, I watch an advertisement on western dress multiple times. After watching that advertisement, I started to watch of that’s pages advertisement to know about that dress quality as well as price. Furthermore, This advertisement makes me to buy this product to explore that dress in real. So, I think advertising more is successful at making us to buy any things.

Nevertheless, Whenever we watch an advertise more than one, it kills our valuable time during doing or focusing on our important works.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address the view that advertising can persuade people to buy, and your example of repeatedly seeing a dress advertisement explains how curiosity can lead to checking the product and considering a purchase. However, the task asks you to discuss both views and give your own opinion. The opposing view—that advertising is so widespread that people stop noticing it—is only briefly linked to wasted time, rather than explained as reduced attention or advertising fatigue. Your position is also unclear: “I partially agree” does not specify which view you support and why. The response is 85 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop both sides. Explain the second view and state a clear, balanced conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting advertising’s persuasive effect, and a final paragraph beginning with “Nevertheless” to introduce a contrast. The example also follows a generally understandable sequence from seeing an advert to seeking more information. However, the response has no developed conclusion, and the opposing point is too brief to create a clear progression between the two views. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, such as “While every arguments has valid reason,” and the repeated use of “advertisement” does not help connect distinct ideas. Build one paragraph for each view, use clear references to the ideas being contrasted, and finish with a conclusion that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “persuading,” “advertisement,” “social media,” and “product quality,” and the reader can generally understand your example. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “increases our interest for that in an intense level” and “watch of that’s pages advertisement” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “It kills our valuable time” is understandable but informal for this essay. Aim for more precise phrases such as “captures consumers’ attention,” “visit the advertiser’s page,” and “wastes time.” Check word forms and spelling as well, including “advertise” when you mean “advertisement.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While” and a time clause beginning “whenever.” These attempts show some range, but errors are frequent and can make sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “whether about advertising … or it is,” “every arguments has,” and “This advertisement makes me to buy,” where clause structure, agreement, and verb patterns are not controlled. Articles and plurals also need attention in “a advertisement” and “any things.” Punctuation around “For example” and inconsistent capitalisation after commas further affect accuracy. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then check articles, agreement, and verb patterns when adding subordinate clauses.
