Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your position: the introduction says the essay will discuss both, and the conclusion supports the view that advertising influences most people. The examples of seeing products online and comparing prices are relevant, as is the concern that advertised quality may be misleading. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is mainly described rather than explained with a clear example of how advertising persuades people, while the second view shifts from ignoring advertising to distrusting it; these are related but not identical reasons. Your opinion is also expressed more clearly in the introduction and conclusion than in the body. Develop each viewpoint with a specific explanation and keep your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “in conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from social media exposure to product display and price comparison without clearly showing how these points support persuasion. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “although minority of people…” in the conclusion, and the second body paragraph combines distrust of product quality with a general claim about marketing. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea, and make references such as “these websites” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “social media platforms,” “reliable,” “products quality,” and “attract more customers.” This gives the response enough topic-specific language to communicate its main ideas. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate spellings or word choices make the writing less clear, for example “convicing,” “subconsiousely,” “technoligical,” and “comertional.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “influence our purchases decisions” and “make some shops.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Repeating “advertising,” “products,” and “people” also limits flexibility; practise alternatives such as “advertisements,” “goods,” “consumers,” and “promotional campaigns” where they fit.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses linked with “because” and “which.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “advertising … influence us” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “allows them make comparaison” is missing “to” after “allows.” The conclusion also contains unclear structures such as “does not influnce them t make some purchases decision.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries need attention; the opening body sentence, for instance, runs several ideas together and lacks clear punctuation. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses and check agreement and verb patterns.
