Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. I partially agree with the viewpoint, in some cases advertising is a useful method, but sometime people cannot pay too much attention to it.

On the one hand, advertising helps us to learn about the thing before we have decided to buy it. It provides the information about the product, their material, color, and texture. Some time they tell about the prices means the actual price, and when they have to decide to buy product they give a special offer. For example, someone is went to the market to buy AC, now theri are multiple shops in one line. Some people sitt out the shop to advertising their product and tell their quailites and comapre it with other shop Product and aslo mention special offers. people take intrest and buy the product. Therefore, advertising still helps many people to buy good quaility of product.

On the other hand, although advertising help people to but worthy products, now it is very common thing. Many people choose online way to buy products. they search on social media find the good quality product and confirm online buying or going to shop to buy the same product. For example, in the current era, Many people have an idea about online shopping, and stores mention each and every thing about product in the discription. people go search about the product they want, learn about each and every thing and buy. Therefore many people not focus on advertising and prefer to serach and learn about product by own self.

In my opinion both view have its merti, some time advertsing take lead t buy thing or in some satutaion most people perfer online serach about the things. I personally perfer to serach about any kind of producat on real wbsite becase on original website you now about the producat real quality and prices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a personal position, so the response covers the main parts of the task. The first body paragraph explains how advertising can inform buyers about product features, prices and offers, while the second presents online research as a reason people may pay less attention to advertisements. Your opinion is also stated in the introduction and conclusion. However, the position is not fully consistent: “I partially agree” is not clearly connected to the later claim that people may ignore advertising, and the conclusion mainly repeats the two sides. Some support is also unclear or under-developed, particularly the example about buying an air conditioner. Make your view more precise and explain how the example demonstrates advertising’s influence. The 30 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “Therefore” help readers follow the broad progression. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, connections within paragraphs are sometimes mechanical or unclear. For instance, the air-conditioner example moves from shops to people outside them without clearly explaining who is advertising or how the buyer is persuaded. The second paragraph also shifts from social-media searches to store descriptions without a smooth link. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim; avoid relying on repeated “Therefore” conclusions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “special offer,” “online shopping,” “product,” and “advertising.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “product” and “buy.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “quailites,” “intrest,” “serach,” and “perfer,” which can make the reader pause. Some expressions are not natural in this context, including “learn about the thing” and “take lead t buy thing.” Aim to use more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe product “features” rather than “things,” and say that an advertisement “influences purchasing decisions” rather than that it “takes lead.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and sentences with “when” and “because.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but control is uneven: some sentences contain several grammatical problems, and complex attempts are not consistently accurate. Examples include “advertising help people,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “Many people choose online way,” which is missing an article. In “someone is went to the market,” the verb form is incorrect; “people not focus” also needs an auxiliary. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are inconsistent, as in “they search on social media” after a full stop. Practise accurate verb forms, articles, agreement and punctuation, then build longer sentences from those reliable patterns.
