Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some individuals believe that advertising is extremely successful at convincing us to purchase things. While other people think that advertising is so privalent that we no longer pay attention to it. Although they are argument for both views. I firmly believe that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things.
The reason people think that advertising is extremely successful at convincing us to buy things. Is that advertisment is an approach many companies use to let people know what they are producing and what individuals can benefit from their product if they purchase it. It has been used by many companies in the past and they are still using it in present days. Without advertisment many companies may experience low or no sales when information about their products is not reaching potential customers. For example, i am working for a company called double hay and what will do is to help business or companies advertised their products. We have gotten several feedbacks from those companies that many customers started patronizing them when we started advertising their products to people who might be interested in them.
On the other hand people think that advertising is so common that people no longer pay attention to it. Is that everywhere they go they always see marketers or saleperson persuading to buy a products, because of this many individuals don't show interest or pay attention to it anymore. In addition many people lost interest in it because when they using their mobile phone to access some application they will have to watch an advert.
For instance, i have a friend who no longer pay attention to advertising anymore because every he went, he saw people coming to him to tell them about a products.
In conclusion, I believe advertisment is an approach many companies use to create awareness to people about their products and how they can benefit from it

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss both views and state a clear preference in the introduction: you believe advertising is effective. The company example supports this position, while the mobile-app adverts and your friend illustrate why some people ignore advertising. However, the second view is less fully explained, and the examples rely mainly on personal experience rather than broader reasoning. The conclusion repeats the claim that advertising creates awareness but does not clearly bring together both sides or explain why its persuasive effect outweighs people’s tendency to ignore it. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and make the comparison behind your opinion explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, and examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the opening of the first body paragraph ends with a full stop before “Is that,” leaving the explanation disconnected. The second paragraph also repeats the idea that people do not pay attention without developing it much further. Use complete topic sentences, connect each example directly to its point, and make the conclusion synthesise the discussion rather than simply restating one claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “persuading,” “potential customers,” “advertising,” and “pay attention,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “advertising,” “people,” and “products.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “privalent,” “advertisment,” “feedbacks,” and “patronizing them,” which make some expressions less natural. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate. For example, describe companies as “promoting their products” and customers as “making purchases” rather than relying on the same basic phrasing throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and examples, but the range is limited and complex structures are often faulty. For instance, “Although they are argument for both views” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, and “The reason people think … . Is that …” incorrectly separates the subject from its explanation. Agreement and verb forms also cause problems in “a friend who no longer pay attention” and “when they using their mobile phone.” Articles and plurals are inconsistent, as in “a products.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise complete sentence structures, subject–verb agreement, and accurate verb forms before adding more complex clauses.
