Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You introduce both views and state a position: “advertising is very significant for all the fields of business.” The first side receives some relevant support, including businesses using images and websites to attract customers. However, the discussion of the opposing view is only begun—people see advertising on social media and television and “feel tired”—and is not explained or supported. The response also ends mid-sentence (“For”), so the argument is incomplete and your own opinion is not developed beyond the opening claim. The task requires at least 250 words, and this response is 84 words short. To improve, complete both sides, explain your reasoning with specific examples, and finish with a clear conclusion that reinforces your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand.” These signposts help readers recognise the intended contrast. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas within the first body paragraph are loosely connected, and the second paragraph stops abruptly. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “However” before a claim about businesses benefiting from advertising. The response therefore has some paragraph structure but does not sustain a clear overall progression. Develop one main point at a time, use linking words only when their relationship is accurate, and complete the second side and conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “persuading,” “consumer,” “social media,” and “marketing,” and the reader can generally identify the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning harder to understand. For example, “encourageing purchase products” and “add regular buyer” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “advertisment” is also misspelled. Repetition of “advertising,” “business,” and “people” further limits variety. Build a bank of accurate phrases such as “influence purchasing decisions” and “attract repeat customers,” and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Furthermore” and one contrasting the two views. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “advertising play” instead of a singular verb form, “a crucial role” rather than “an crucial role,” and “individuals use smartphones give information,” which lacks a clear grammatical connection between the verbs. The final “For” also leaves a sentence unfinished. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and connectors. Proofread each sentence for a complete verb structure and correct agreement.
