Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear, though brief, opinion that advertising encourages people to buy, and you include a relevant example about checking restaurant reviews. However, the discussion of the two views is only minimal: the point about older people distrusting advertisements is mentioned but not explained, while the claim that people born in this era shop through advertising is not supported. Your conclusion, “successful features for growing business,” does not fully develop your position or address the opposing view. The response is also 179 words, 71 words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each viewpoint with reasons and examples, then state your opinion more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding sentence. The restaurant-review example is relevant to the preceding point about advertising, and phrases such as “I think” signal your position. However, ideas are not arranged in a consistently clear progression. The second paragraph moves from online ordering to changing amenities and then to older people’s views without showing how these points connect. Several sentences run together, particularly the discussion of checking a restaurant’s reviews, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Use one main idea per paragraph, connect examples explicitly to that idea, and use clear sentence boundaries and linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “product,” “review,” and “growing business,” and the restaurant example shows an attempt to discuss advertising in everyday life. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “successful at satisfy us to buy,” “both thinker,” and “advertisement is provoke people.” Spelling is also inconsistent in words such as “advertisment” and “restuarant.” These errors sometimes strain the reader’s effort to understand your ideas. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing persuasion, consumer behaviour and advertising, and check spelling and word forms when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “I think both thinker are right” and the sentence beginning “if i would try a new restaurant.” However, sentence structures are very limited in control, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include missing or incorrect verb forms in “advertisement is provoke,” agreement in “both thinker are,” and the conditional construction “if i would try.” Punctuation and capitalisation also need attention: several ideas are joined without full stops, and “i” and “Product” are inconsistently capitalised. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses and punctuation.
