Student answer (Band 5.5)

Advertising is an important stage for buying products and some people think that advertising is extremely successgul at persuading us to sell products. On the other hand, some people think that it is a ordinary thing and most of the people do not pay attention to it. Advertising helps people to know about a product and its price, it helps people to distingue between right and wrong choices. I strongly agree with the statement that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to by things.

Many people thing that, advertising is and integral part for buying a product. It helps people to know about products and its price, to differensiate between right and wrong choice, make people feel the abcent of a product, etc. Firstly, it helps people to know about a new products like when we watch a add about a product then we can know about it and its price. In that add we can know how can we use the product and how can it make our like more comfortable. Secondly, it helps us to distinguish between right and wrong choice like when we can watch a add then we can know about the product wather this choice would be good or not. Thirdly, advertise makes people feel the abcent of a product like when a person watch a add about a product he can feel he does not have this product and that's why his like is to difficult. For example, in Bangladesh many people before buying a product they go to a website and watch many add for making a good choice.

In contrast, many people thing that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Nowadays, we can watch many add in roads, facebook, and TV. Therefore these availablity makes advertising common to us. When we use facebook we watch many advertise and we feel disgust for these advertise and sometime we avoid the add. Other thing when we watch TV, when advertise arrives we do other thing insted watching advertise. Besides, when we situated in the road we can see many add and when we arrived to home we totaly forget about the advertise.

In conclusing, advertising helps people to know about a product and its price, it helps people to distingue between right and wrong choices. In contrast, sometimes we do not pay attention to it while watching facebook, TV or situating in a road. Therefore, i strongly agree with the statement that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for the idea that advertising persuades people to buy. The response also gives relevant reasons, such as learning about a product and feeling that one lacks it. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the point about distinguishing “right and wrong choices” is asserted rather than explained, and the example about people in Bangladesh checking websites is not clearly connected to persuasion. The opposing view is described through examples of avoiding adverts on Facebook, television and roads, but its significance is not explored. To strengthen the response, explain how advertising influences decisions and weigh this against why repeated exposure may make people ignore it. The 33 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “In contrast” and “Therefore” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is often repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats that adverts provide product information and then lists similar points without clearly building an argument. Some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “Other thing” and “Besides,” and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Improve cohesion by grouping related reasons, using clearer references to earlier ideas, and making each paragraph develop one central point rather than repeating it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “persuading,” “product,” “price,” “common” and “avoid.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “advertising is an important stage for buying products,” “feel the abcent of a product,” and repeated use of “add” where “advertisement” or “ad” is intended. There are also misspellings such as “successgul,” “distingue” and “availablity.” Build a more accurate range of expressions for influence and exposure, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish informing consumers from persuading them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “when,” “because” and “therefore,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in examples such as “Many people thing that, advertising is and integral part” and “when a person watch a add.” Articles, plurals and verb forms are also frequently inaccurate, as in “a new products” and “we can know how can we use the product.” Some sentences join separate ideas with commas, for example the opening sentence, which makes the relationships harder to follow. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, articles and word order. Clearer punctuation would also improve readability.
