Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a position, so the response is relevant to the full task. The first body paragraph explains how online advertising, useful information and celebrity endorsements can encourage purchases; the second explains that repetitive adverts may irritate or distract people. These are appropriate points, but some are asserted rather than developed. For example, the claim that informative adverts make people more likely to buy is not illustrated with a clear explanation of how this influence works, and the point about targeted audiences is left brief. Your conclusion says advertising can influence behaviour, but it does not clearly weigh the two views or state when you think advertising is most persuasive. Develop and connect these ideas more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed within the relevant discussion. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, links between individual ideas can be mechanical or unclear. In the first body paragraph, the move from useful online adverts to celebrity endorsements and then targeted audiences feels like a list rather than a developed sequence. Some references, such as “it” in the second paragraph, are not immediately clear. Use more precise referencing and connect each example to the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “celebrity endorsements,” “targeted audience,” “consumer buying habits,” and “repetitive advertisements.” These choices show an effort to discuss advertising beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear: “foster people buy things,” “informative adverse,” “accustome,” and “facilate” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “give that much focus to it” and “creates irritating situation.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding ambitious vocabulary; checking spelling and word forms would also improve clarity. The range is sufficient to convey the main ideas, but control is inconsistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “although,” and “in order to.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and grammar occur across the response. For example, “advertising a crucial role” is missing a verb, while “people are rely” combines incompatible verb forms. In “Individuals when came across,” the clause has an incorrect structure, and “people don't pay no longer attention” uses a confusing negative construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, such as “some advertisement provides.” Work on building complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and using one clear negative form. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to follow.
