Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The opening identifies both visuals and their subjects, and you correctly report that full-time work was the most common destination at 52%. However, the response stops before describing the table or giving a meaningful overview of the salary patterns; the phrase “While the table” is unfinished. The least common destination is also misidentified: part-time work combined with postgraduate study was 5%, while part-time work alone was 15%. The task requires a summary of the main features and relevant comparisons, but almost all of the chart and table information is absent. The response is also 97 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to address the task adequately. Include key figures and comparisons from both visuals, especially the salary distributions by employment sector.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the first sentence introduces the chart and table, and the next begins to report a chart feature. The linking word “While” suggests an intended comparison, but it is left without a completing clause, so the response ends abruptly and the relationship between the visuals is never explained. There is no developed progression from an overview to supporting details, and the very short response provides no paragraphing to distinguish the chart from the salary table. To improve, use a clear sequence: introduce both visuals, summarise the main patterns, then give selected details for each. Complete comparisons and use linking expressions only where they clarify how the information relates.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “pie-chart,” “graduates,” “full time work,” “part-time,” and “income,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, several spelling errors—“Anthroplogy,” “theri,” “exprienece,” “preferance,” “gradutes,” “timw,” and “whcih”—make the writing look uncontrolled. Some expressions are also imprecise: “future” does not accurately describe graduates’ destinations after completing their degrees, and “half a decades of exprienece” is an awkward way to refer to five years. Build a more reliable range of chart language, such as “destination,” “salary bracket,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you report the table as well as the chart.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a compound sentence with “and” and a comparison introduced by “While,” showing some effort to connect ideas. However, the second sentence is incomplete: “While the table” has no main clause, and the response therefore ends with an unfinished thought. The opening also has an unnecessary comma after “seen,” and the construction “the highest preferance of gradutes is full timw work” is awkward and difficult to interpret grammatically. Most of the response relies on simple sentence patterns, with little evidence of controlled variety. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check punctuation around introductory phrases. For example, state the chart’s main feature in one complete sentence, then use a separate sentence to compare salary categories.
