Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify several accurate figures from the destination chart, including full-time work at 52%, part-time work at 15%, unemployment at 12%, and part-time work with postgraduate study at 5%. However, the response does not adequately summarise the salary table: it gives no salary-band figures or meaningful comparisons, and the claim that the lowest income was generated by both freelancers and government employers is unclear and unsupported. The overview also misstates that full-time postgraduate study and “not known” have the same value; they are 8% each, but this is not clearly expressed. The response is 118 words, below the 150-word minimum. To improve, complete the table discussion and give a clear overview of the main patterns.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, an overview beginning “Overall,” and further details introduced by “Furthermore” and “Moreover.” The destination figures are grouped together, which gives this part some order. However, the progression is incomplete: the final paragraph stops after saying there are three employment types, so the salary information is not developed at all. Some linking is mechanical, and “well” does not clearly show the relationship between the points it connects. The overview also combines several claims in a confusing way. Use separate paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table, and ensure each paragraph develops its stated focus with clear comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, such as “full-time work,” “unemployment,” “postgraduate study,” and “Government,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to follow: “can doing,” “highest between there,” and “income can be genrated” are not natural expressions. There are also spelling errors, including “postgrduate,” “contians,” and “contaain.” Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “salary band,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid describing graduates as “students” when reporting their employment outcomes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences and uses basic sequencing, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “This pie graph illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “students can doing full-time work” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “Overall” joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure, and “graduates contians 52%” does not form a clear subject–verb relationship. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly in the opening and overview. These errors sometimes make the intended comparisons hard to understand. Build accuracy first with clear simple sentences, then add controlled complex forms—for example, “Full-time work was the most common destination, at 52%.”
