Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the chart and table and make a relevant overall comparison, noting that full-time work is the largest destination and that part-time work plus postgraduate study is the smallest. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no supporting figures for the destinations and does not report any salary-band data. The table overview is also unfinished (“while”), so the main salary patterns are not communicated. In addition, the response is 78 words, below the required 150-word minimum, leaving most of the information unreported. To improve, complete the overview and add selected figures, such as the 52% in full-time work and the 40% of freelance consultants earning in each of the two highest salary bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces both visuals, followed by an overview beginning with “Overall.” The contrast marker “whereas” also helps signal a comparison. However, the response has no developed body paragraphs, and the ideas do not progress into a clear account of the chart and table. The final clause, “while,” is left incomplete, which makes the ending abrupt and the relationship between the salary groups unclear. Build a simple structure with an introduction, a concise overview, and separate detail paragraphs for destinations and salaries. Use linking expressions to connect specific comparisons rather than relying on a single broad overview.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “percentage,” and “incomes,” and it attempts to distinguish employment categories. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “proportion about,” “employement,” and “postgrand.” The repeated use of “percentage” and “work” also limits precision. Choose the chart’s exact labels where possible, and use accurate terms such as “share,” “salary,” and “postgraduate study.” Proofreading spelling and collocations would make the meaning easier to follow and help you describe the table more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a complex opening sentence using “whereas,” and the overview includes a comparative structure, showing some ability to connect clauses. However, control is inconsistent. The opening has awkward article and sentence-pattern use (“illustrates proportion about”), and the phrase “the incomes of the anthropologists employement of three different employement” is not grammatically well formed. The final sentence also stops after “while,” leaving a dependent clause incomplete. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, with spaces before commas and no space after one comma. Practise writing complete, controlled sentences: state what each visual shows, then use a clear subject and verb for each comparison.
