Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time employment and the salary distribution across sectors. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary statement that synthesizes the data effectively. While you mention the main trends, the comparison between sectors is somewhat mechanical. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant differences, such as the government sector's higher concentration of top-tier salaries compared to the freelance or private sectors, rather than just listing the figures for each category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for each data set, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Firstly', and 'On the contrary', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal structure of the third paragraph is repetitive, relying heavily on listing data points rather than linking them through comparative analysis. Improving the flow between sentences would help the reader follow the comparison more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data points and categories. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'reflacts', 'Anthropolpgy', 'universsity', 'garduates', 'postgarduate', and 'chows'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'freelance consultants' and 'government sector', the range is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accuracy in spelling and incorporate more varied verbs to describe trends, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'predominate'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the salaries of those employed in three different sector' (should be 'sectors'), '52% Anthropology garduates secured' (missing verb/passive voice), and 'the salaries paid in $25,000-49,999 at 5%' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often lacks precision. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing statistical data.
