Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of both the chart and the table. However, the analysis of the table data is inaccurate. You state that salaries 'increase' to 50% or 40%, but the table provides salary figures (e.g., 1 lac plus), not percentages of increase. This misinterpretation of the data significantly impacts the accuracy of your report. While you have identified the main trends in the pie chart, the failure to correctly interpret the table data prevents a higher score. Ensure you carefully distinguish between units of measurement (percentages vs. currency) to provide a more accurate summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'According to', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of precise referencing between the data points makes the flow feel a bit disjointed at times. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'the former') is used to connect sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'destination', 'employment', and 'graduates'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'well known category' instead of 'most common category' and the misuse of '1 lac plus' as a percentage. There is also some repetition of basic verbs. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'constitutes', 'represents', or 'the majority of', and ensure you use terminology appropriate for data reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the table illustrate', 'salary... increases') and punctuation errors, such as inconsistent spacing before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are punctuated correctly. Practising the use of complex sentences with subordinate clauses will also help you demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
