Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time employment and the salary trends across sectors. However, the overview is slightly thin, and some data points in the table are presented as a list rather than a comparative analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that the comparison between the three sectors is more integrated, rather than just listing the percentages for each category. Overall, the information is accurate and the main trends are clearly highlighted.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', and 'whereas' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical errors and some awkward phrasing. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the pie chart data and the table data could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct data sets, which helps the reader follow the structure of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'destination', 'proportion', and 'sectors'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'Anthropolopgy', 'universiuty', 'hafd', 'goverment', 'persude', and 'unemolyed'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, though they do not impede communication. To improve, you should focus on proofreading your work to catch these basic spelling mistakes. Using more precise collocations, such as 'remuneration' instead of 'salary', would also enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the government sector'), subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie chart illustrate'), and inconsistent capitalization. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for small slips will help you achieve a higher band.
