Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including both the pie chart and the table. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time employment and the salary distribution across sectors. However, the analysis of the table is somewhat list-like. To reach a higher band, ensure you make more direct comparisons between the sectors (e.g., noting that public servants were significantly more likely to earn the highest salary bracket compared to private sector employees). The overview is present but could be more integrated to better highlight the relationship between employment status and salary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief concluding sentence. You use cohesive devices such as 'While', 'In contrast', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or used incorrectly, such as starting sentences with 'While,' which is a subordinating conjunction and should not be used to start a new sentence in this manner. Paragraphing is present, but the final sentence is isolated and would be better integrated into the second body paragraph to improve the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant proportion', 'freelance consultants', and 'employment status'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'managing part-time with postgrad study' and 'accounted to get', which sound slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence fragments, such as 'While, the table depicts...' and 'Rest 8% students' future career was still unknown.' Additionally, there are minor errors with articles and prepositions (e.g., 'salaries of professionals is' should be 'are'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct punctuation after introductory clauses will help improve your accuracy.
