Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table, providing relevant comparisons such as noting that part-time work was three times the proportion of those studying while working. The overview is clear and highlights the key trends, such as the prevalence of full-time employment and the higher salaries for government employees. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete precision; for instance, the final sentence regarding the salary range of $25,000–$49,999 is slightly vague in its phrasing. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used a variety of cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in addition', 'on the contrary', and 'in terms of' to link information effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis of the two data sets. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, though some transitions could be more sophisticated. The referencing is clear, and the information is presented in a way that is easy for the reader to follow. The structure is sound and supports the overall purpose of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'highest proportion', 'enrolled themselves', and 'freelancers' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'pass outs' (which is informal) and 'excelled with highest salaries' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). However, these do not impede communication. You have attempted to use some less common vocabulary, which adds to the clarity of the report. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding informal phrasing to elevate the tone of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You have used complex sentences effectively, such as '...part time work which was three times the proportion of students who decided to study along with working part time.' While there are occasional errors, such as the missing capitalization at the start of the final sentence and minor issues with article usage, these do not cause difficulty for the reader. The majority of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound. To achieve a higher score, ensure consistent attention to punctuation and capitalization, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures.
