Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. However, the analysis of the table is problematic. You misinterpret the data by stating that 'the lowest salaries... were 5% in freelancing' and 'government sector stood highest with 50%'. The table actually shows salary brackets (e.g., 100,000+), not percentages of the workforce. This misreading of the data significantly impacts the accuracy of your report. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the categories (sectors) and the numerical values (salaries) provided in the table. While you identify main features, the lack of accurate data interpretation prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'In addition'. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, starting sentences with 'Given chart shows' or 'The table represents' is a bit repetitive. The use of 'And' to start sentences is informal and should be avoided in academic writing. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus without relying on repetitive sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but contains several spelling errors, such as 'antropolgy', 'antropology', 'goverment', and 'addittion'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'degreeholder' instead of 'graduates' and 'generall group' which is unclear. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the frequent spelling mistakes and imprecise word choices limit your ability to convey information with precision. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'category', or 'remuneration'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'anthropology degreeholder fromon single institute', 'full time work remain highest', and 'it reamin nearby'. These errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, are noticeable. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors requires the reader to work harder to understand the intended message. To improve, proofread your work specifically for verb endings and pluralization, and practice constructing more complex sentences with correct punctuation.
