Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the pie chart, the summary of the table is confusing and lacks clarity. The description of salary trends is difficult to follow, as the data points are presented in a disjointed manner without clear comparisons. To improve, you must ensure all data is accurately represented and clearly linked to the categories provided. The conclusion is also somewhat vague and does not effectively synthesize the information presented. Please ensure you meet the minimum length requirement in future tasks to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is not always logical. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Moreover', the transitions between the pie chart data and the table data are abrupt. The sentence structure within the second paragraph is repetitive and lacks the necessary flow to guide the reader through the statistical information. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the comparison between the different sectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'biggest part' and 'little part' are simplistic. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'whatever gets good goal' and 'this is a good indicators', which are grammatically incorrect and do not convey the intended meaning clearly. You attempt to use some specific terminology related to the chart, but the lack of precision in describing the data trends hinders your ability to communicate effectively. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. For example, 'the grades from one university' is likely a misuse of 'graduates', and 'salaries... was increased' contains a subject-verb agreement error. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, which makes the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or passive voice to describe data more accurately.
