Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting key features from both the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the dominance of full-time work and the salary variations across sectors. However, the analysis could be more sophisticated; for instance, you could have explicitly compared the salary brackets between the three sectors more effectively rather than listing them sequentially. The overview is functional but lacks a strong synthesis of the data. Overall, the response is accurate and addresses the requirements well, though it remains somewhat descriptive rather than analytical.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and table respectively. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'The chart shows us that', though the transitions between sentences are occasionally a bit mechanical. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be linked more fluidly to improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets, which helps the reader navigate the information effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'freelance consultants', 'government sector', and 'undergraduate degree'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'different type of employment' (should be 'types') and 'Most private companies employers' (should be 'employees'). The vocabulary is functional and allows for clear communication, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise collocations related to data description, such as 'the majority of' or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Average salary range were' instead of 'was') and pluralization errors ('different type' instead of 'types'). Punctuation is generally correct, but there is a lack of variety in sentence structure, with many sentences following a similar pattern. The errors present do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the use of complex structures, such as relative clauses or participial phrases, would enhance your range.
