Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both the pie chart and the table, identifying key features such as the dominance of full-time work and the salary variations. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The description of the table data is confusing, particularly the claim that the government sector has both the highest and lowest salaries, which misinterprets the data. While the main features are highlighted, the lack of clear, accurate comparisons and the misinterpretation of the table data limit the score. To improve, ensure that the data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are logically structured to reflect the actual information provided in the visual aids.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'In pie chart' is grammatically incorrect, and the use of 'In addition' is repetitive. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs. While there is a basic logical flow, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional confusion in referencing make the cohesion feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'majority pupils' instead of 'majority of graduates' and 'holded' instead of 'held'. The phrase 'not known parts' is also imprecise. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'freelance consultants' and 'government sector', the overall range is limited. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive or non-standard phrasing. Expanding the range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'proportion' would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the large number of students are full time workers and least with part time work', which lacks proper verb structure, and 'the government sector employees are holded highest salary'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and verb tense usage prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence formation is essential.
