Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the response is incomplete; it cuts off mid-sentence while describing the table data. While the introduction and overview attempt to summarize the main features, the lack of completion means the data is not fully reported or compared. To improve, ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed and that the response is of sufficient length to allow for a full analysis of the provided data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical fashion (e.g., 'whereas', 'besides'). Because the response ends abruptly, the logical flow is disrupted. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, completed purpose that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'COMPLTING', 'UNIVERSTY', and 'TOME', which detract from the quality of the writing. The vocabulary used is functional but lacks the precision required for a higher band score. To improve, focus on using more varied terminology to describe data trends and ensure careful proofreading to eliminate basic spelling mistakes. Expanding your vocabulary to include terms like 'proportion', 'sector', and 'remuneration' would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('THE TABLE SHOW') and incorrect verb forms ('CHOOSED' instead of 'chose'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the lack of completion prevents the demonstration of more complex grammatical structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency. Additionally, try to incorporate a mix of simple and complex sentences to demonstrate a broader range of grammatical control.
