Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the pie chart and the table, identifying key data points such as the 52% full-time employment rate and the salary distribution. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or synthesis of the data. While the main features are reported, the comparison between the government and freelance sectors is repetitive rather than analytical. The response would benefit from grouping the data more effectively to highlight trends rather than listing figures sequentially. Despite these issues, all parts of the prompt are addressed, and the key information is presented clearly enough for the reader to understand the data trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive sentence structures. For instance, the use of 'Therefore' is often misused to connect unrelated points. Cohesive devices are present but are frequently mechanical or incorrectly applied, such as the comma splices in the first paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is disjointed. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus rather than just listing data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'peruse their postgrad study' (likely meaning 'pursue') and 'ramaning' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying heavily on basic descriptors like 'paid' and 'huge amount'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of sophisticated terminology and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'im' instead of 'in') prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on synonyms and more precise academic collocations would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This Pie chart show'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors like comma splices. The attempt at complex structures is often faulty, leading to awkward phrasing. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction is noticeable. To improve, you should practice proofreading for common errors such as verb tense consistency and subject-verb agreement, and work on integrating complex sentences more accurately.
