Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identified the key categories in the chart, the description of the table is confusing and inaccurate. For instance, you mention '80% in each' for the Freelance and Government sectors, which is not clearly supported by the provided data, and the salary ranges are described in a way that is difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you accurately interpret the data points and provide clear comparisons between the categories rather than just listing percentages. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the main message quickly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the chart description and the table analysis is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the information presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'gaining of 5 years' and 'secured lesser with 45%'. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle with collocations related to data reporting. To reach a higher band, try to use more sophisticated vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'remained stable'. Additionally, ensure that you use terminology correctly when referring to statistical data to avoid ambiguity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Freelance sector and Government sector has'), article usage ('the chart shows'), and sentence structure ('The chart illustrates that the Anthropology graduates... after completing their bachelors degree' is a fragment). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and proofread for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for a higher score.
