Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers both the chart and the table, but the reporting of data is inconsistent and contains inaccuracies. For example, you state that 5% is equal to one third, which is mathematically incorrect. Furthermore, the description of the table data is confusing; you mention 'government sector' twice with different percentages (50% and 5%), and the interpretation of the salary data is unclear. While you identify the main features, the lack of precision and the presence of contradictory information prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that your data points are accurate and that you clearly distinguish between the categories provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. Phrases like 'To begin with' and 'In contrast' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors and unclear referencing. The transition between the chart description and the table description is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will help improve the overall flow and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and there are several errors in word choice and word formation. For instance, you use 'illustrators' instead of 'illustrate' and 'income 's' instead of 'incomes'. There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the incorrect use of terminology (e.g., 'leading factor' to describe a percentage) hinder the quality of the response. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing data, such as 'proportion', 'segment', or 'fluctuation', would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('graduates shows'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are awkward or incomplete, such as 'fulltime work is the calculated the highest proportion'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, which impacts the clarity of your message. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help you achieve a higher level of accuracy.
