Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While you have identified the main features of the pie chart, the analysis of the table is extremely brief and lacks detail. You mention that government sector jobs are highly paid, but you do not provide any of the specific salary figures from the table to support this comparison. To improve, ensure you include data points for all categories and provide a more comprehensive comparison between the two datasets. The current length prevents a full overview of the provided information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'To begin with'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of depth and the abrupt ending. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the pie chart data and the table data is underdeveloped. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, balanced focus would help achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'remuneration', 'proportion', and 'destinations'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as 'perseuing' instead of 'pursuing'. The vocabulary is functional but lacks the sophistication or variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing when describing trends or data points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'The figures of which is three times more', which should be 'The figure for which is three times higher'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as the spacing before 'remuneration' and 'Students'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a greater focus on subject-verb agreement and sentence construction.
