IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The chart below shows what Anthropology graduates from one university did after finishing their undergraduate degree course. The table shows the salaries of the anthropologists in work after five years.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart demonstrates the data about Anthropology students about what they did after completing their course. Secondly, the table elaborates the percentage of students according to their income in different sectors.
Overall, the figure of full time workers were relatively high (52%) as compared to the rest the five sections. On the flip side, around 50% of students were getting more than $100,000 in each sector except the one who were working in private companies. While, 5-15% graduates were earning below $75,000 among all fields.
In the pie chart, more than 50% of the undergraduates choose to go for full-time jobs. Not only the 8% students who were pursuing their postgrade study with full time work but also there was another 8% and their information was missing. However, the proportion of undergraduates who were working part time with their studies was just 5% which was comparatively lowest among all categories. Only 15% of the students were doing part time jobs and 12% students did not find any job.
On the other hand, there was 5%-15% of the graduates in the freelance consultants and their salaries varied from $25,000 - $74,999. But, 80% of the total students were earning from $75,000 to more than $100,000. The government sector and freelance consultants were showing same ratio of students which were getting $25000 - $74,999. There were 50% of graduates who received highly income on government jobs and rest was 30% with $75000 to 99,999 pay. Furthermore, the private sectors hired 10%-35% students on income range $25,000 - $74,999 which was significantly higher than rest of the sector.Last but not least, they hired less graduates around 25% to 30% who earned more than one million.
