Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the chart and table, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identified the key percentages, the comparison between categories is weak. For instance, you mention the percentages for employment types but fail to synthesize the data effectively or highlight the most significant trends. The description of the table is particularly underdeveloped; you list the percentages for salary ranges but do not clearly explain the relationship between the sectors (freelance, government, private) and the salary levels. To improve, ensure you group related data points and provide a clearer overview of the most striking differences or similarities between the groups.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'And also' and 'so on' are used inappropriately, which disrupts the flow of ideas. The transition between the graph and the table is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'Anthropology qualified professionals' and 'doing full time work'. The use of 'one lac dollars' is non-standard in an international IELTS context; '100,000 dollars' would be clearer. You rely on basic verbs like 'doing' and 'gives', which limits the sophistication of your writing. Expanding your range to include more academic collocations related to data reporting would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('The graph explain', 'The graph contain') and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'the 40% qualified professionals earned the salaries in freelance consultant more than one lac dollars'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization after commas and at the start of sentences. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help reduce these errors.
