Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting key data points from both the chart and the table. The main features are identified, and comparisons are made, such as contrasting the salary distributions between freelance consultants and government employees. However, the analysis could be improved by grouping data more effectively rather than listing percentages sequentially. While the overview is present, it is somewhat simplistic. To reach a higher band, ensure that the comparisons are more analytical and that the data selection highlights the most significant trends rather than just reporting individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'By contrast', and 'however' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within the body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure allows the reader to follow the information easily, though more sophisticated linking phrases would enhance the cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'full-time employment', 'freelance consultants', and 'postgrad study' used correctly. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'least figures' and 'mix verity', which detract from the professional tone. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'maximum students joined' (should be 'the majority of'), '52% graduates are working' (missing 'of'), and 'student's occupation' (should be plural 'students''). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences that could be improved with better use of commas or semicolons. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
