Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is significantly hampered by inaccurate reporting of the data. For instance, you state that 'freelance consultants recorded the highest figure' in the pie chart, which is incorrect as full-time work is the largest category. Furthermore, the description of the salary table is confusing and misinterprets the data provided. You attempt to compare categories, but the lack of clarity regarding the relationship between the sectors and the salary brackets makes the information difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe data points and focus on clear, logical comparisons rather than listing figures without context.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed due to the misuse of cohesive devices. Phrases like 'Regarding to' (incorrect preposition) and the repetitive use of 'meanwhile' and 'compared with' make the flow mechanical and sometimes confusing. The referencing is also unclear; for example, in the final paragraph, it is difficult to determine which data points are being linked. Using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'accounted for' and 'stood at'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'respectevilly' (spelling error) and 'salaries terms'. The attempt to describe the salary data is hindered by a lack of precise vocabulary to explain the relationship between the sectors and the income levels. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise terminology related to statistics, such as 'constituted', 'represented', or 'fluctuated', and ensure you use them in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with punctuation, particularly the unnecessary use of commas (e.g., 'followed by, part-time work ,with 15%'). There are also grammatical errors involving prepositions and subject-verb agreement, such as 'anthropology graduates students' and 'salaries of the anthropologists in work'. While the errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the general topic, they occur frequently enough to cause distraction and reduce the overall clarity of your report. Focus on proofreading for basic punctuation and prepositional accuracy.
