Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Because the essay is only 94 words, the information is severely underdeveloped. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail, and the body paragraph is incomplete, failing to cover the salary data or provide a comprehensive comparison of all categories. To achieve a higher band, you must provide a more detailed analysis of the data provided in both the chart and the table, ensuring all key features are highlighted and supported with specific figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and a single body paragraph. While there is a basic logical flow, the lack of development makes the progression feel disjointed. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall' and 'To commence with' are used, but they are somewhat mechanical. The paragraphing is insufficient due to the brevity of the text. To improve, ensure that each main feature is clearly grouped and linked with a wider variety of cohesive devices to create a smoother, more professional flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'half of the popularity of learners' are awkward and do not accurately convey the intended meaning regarding the data. There is a reliance on basic terminology, and the attempt to use more academic language is occasionally imprecise. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data reporting, such as 'the majority of graduates' or 'the highest proportion of earnings'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are grammatical inaccuracies that affect clarity, such as 'whereas least of them opted for part-time work and studying for higher studies apparently'. The phrasing is often unnatural, and there are issues with article usage and word order. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring grammatical accuracy will help improve this score.
