Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response effectively addresses both parts of the prompt. You have provided a clear overview of the main trends and successfully selected key data points to support your summary. The comparison between the employment destinations and the salary brackets is well-integrated. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are fully accurate; for instance, the statement regarding 80% of freelance consultants earning $75,000 or more is a good use of data, but ensure that the distinction between the two charts remains clear throughout. You have successfully highlighted the main features as required by the task instructions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct data sets. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you have used cohesive devices such as 'regarding', 'in terms of', and 'this compares with' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the data. The flow is natural, and the information is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a high band in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'post-graduation destinations', 'freelance consultants', and 'salary bands' are used accurately. While the vocabulary is functional and appropriate for an academic report, it lacks a degree of sophistication or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the response to a higher band. There are no significant errors in word choice, and the terminology related to the charts is handled correctly throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

Your grammar is generally accurate, with a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You have used punctuation correctly for the most part, though there are minor issues with capitalization at the start of sentences. The use of percentages and comparative structures is handled well. While the sentence structures are clear, there is a lack of more complex, varied grammatical forms that would demonstrate a wider range. However, the majority of your sentences are error-free, which is a strong indicator of good control.
