Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of both the pie chart and the table. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies. For instance, the description of the table data is confusing; the student mentions 'maximum at private companies' but the data provided in the text is difficult to follow and does not clearly compare the salary brackets across the three sectors. While the main trends are identified, the lack of clarity in reporting the figures makes it difficult for the reader to grasp the full picture. To improve, ensure that comparisons are precise and that the data points cited directly match the visual information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed due to awkward phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or missing, making the progression of information feel abrupt. For example, the transition 'Moreover, about the proportion of 8 %' is clunky. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the table data. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would help create a smoother, more logical flow between the different sections of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'learner involves in full time work' (should be 'graduates are employed in full-time work') and 'class of job payment' (should be 'salary distribution'). Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'remarkable same' and 'parallel ways'. While the student attempts to use specific terminology related to the data, the errors in collocation and word form occasionally impede the clarity of the information. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary and focusing on correct collocations will significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The piechart indicate'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structure is often fragmented or poorly constructed, which affects readability. For example, 'Anthropology graduates journey after the higher education was more involved in the full time' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
