Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the main features of the pie chart and table are identified, the analysis is superficial. The report lacks a clear overview of the data trends, and the comparison between the categories is underdeveloped. The information provided is somewhat fragmented, and the failure to reach the minimum length means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure all data points are clearly described and compared, and provide a more comprehensive summary of the trends observed in both the chart and the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as the repetitive use of 'covering by' and 'owned by'. There is a lack of variety in linking words, which makes the flow of the text feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the employment types and the salary data is not explicitly linked. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'graduate people' instead of 'graduates' and 'continue Postgread study' which is grammatically awkward. The phrasing 'most owned by the from government sector' is unnatural and imprecise. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with the necessary precision required for an Academic Task 1 report. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'proportion', 'accounted for', 'majority', and 'remuneration', while avoiding repetitive structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('This Pie chart illustrate'), article usage ('the smallest part of Piechart'), and sentence structure ('Their are mainly three type of the employment'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, and punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like 'Their' instead of 'There' is essential.
