Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task but is incomplete. While it identifies some main features of the pie chart, the description of the table is severely underdeveloped and ends abruptly mid-sentence ('at aro'). The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical issues. The comparison of data is limited, and the failure to complete the report significantly impacts the ability to present a clear summary of the information provided. To improve, ensure all parts of the data are covered and that the report is finished in its entirety.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'Moreover', but they are frequently applied incorrectly or in a way that makes the text difficult to follow. For example, the transition between the pie chart and the table is abrupt and lacks logical flow. Referencing is often confusing, particularly when discussing the data categories. The text lacks a cohesive structure that guides the reader through the information presented in the charts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'how to pay salaries in anthropologists' instead of 'anthropologists' salaries' and 'three type of employment rise salaries'. The student relies on basic terminology and struggles to use precise language to describe statistical data. Some terms are used incorrectly, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary related to data description and focus on accurate word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('table chart give information'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'Both categroy were same full-time postgrad study and not know at around 8%'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. Significant improvement in basic sentence construction and grammatical accuracy is required to communicate ideas effectively.
