Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to address the entire task. While the pie chart data is summarized, the table regarding salaries is completely ignored. The instructions explicitly asked to report on both the chart and the table. Furthermore, the overview is missing; the response jumps straight into listing percentages without identifying significant trends or making meaningful comparisons between the categories. The writing style is overly descriptive, listing data points rather than synthesizing information. To improve, you must ensure all visual data provided in the prompt is analyzed and include a clear overview that highlights the most striking features of the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks logical organization. The introduction is repetitive, and the transition into the body paragraph is informal and awkward ('secondly we will discuss...'). There is no clear paragraphing structure, as the response is essentially one long block of text. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, making the flow of information disjointed. The lack of a clear structure makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks and a wider range of linking words to connect your points logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'given chart' and 'percentile of citizens,' which is inaccurate in this context (the data refers to graduates, not citizens). There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. Errors such as 'percentile' instead of 'percentage' and 'indivuals' (spelling) detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'proportion,' 'account for,' and 'distributed among.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors and punctuation issues. There are frequent spelling mistakes, such as 'indivuals' and 'Acc' (abbreviation). Sentence structures are basic and repetitive, often relying on simple lists. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on sentence variety by combining simple ideas into complex sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and ensure you proofread for basic spelling and capitalization errors.
