Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the employment status and salary data. However, the presentation of data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, the description of salary ranges is difficult to follow, and the percentages provided do not always clearly reflect the visual data. While you have identified the main features, the lack of precision in reporting the figures and the somewhat disjointed comparison of sectors hinder the clarity of the report. To improve, ensure that data points are clearly linked to their respective categories and avoid over-generalizing or misstating the relationship between the variables.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'At last part time working students have parcentaged by 15'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors and unclear referencing. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Meanwhile' and 'Overall', the flow is frequently disrupted by the lack of clarity in the underlying sentences. Improving the variety and accuracy of cohesive devices will help create a smoother, more professional narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'illustrates about what', 'undergraduation in degree course', and 'have parcentaged by'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. While you have attempted to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'freelance consultants' and 'government sector', the lack of precision in collocation and spelling (e.g., 'mejority', 'postgrat', 'reprasents') limits the score. Focusing on accurate word forms and standard collocations will significantly enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'The chart illustrates about what an Anthropology graduates' contains multiple errors in a single clause. There is a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but the frequent errors in tense, pluralization, and preposition usage often impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly. Proofreading for common slips in spelling and punctuation is also essential.
