Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features of the charts, but the analysis is significantly flawed. You have misinterpreted the data in the table, describing salary trends as 'increasing year by year' when the table provides a static snapshot of salaries after five years, not a longitudinal study. Furthermore, the data points are often inaccurate (e.g., stating 85% for postgrad study when the chart shows 8%). The summary of the pie chart is better, but the failure to correctly interpret the table data prevents a clear overview of the information. To improve, focus on accurately transcribing figures and understanding the nature of the data presented (static vs. temporal).

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by inaccurate data reporting and confusing transitions. Phrases like 'Moving ahead' are used mechanically rather than to link related ideas effectively. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inappropriate, such as the abrupt shift between the pie chart and the table. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that sentences are linked by logical relationships rather than just sequence markers.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'carried by' and 'recorded by' to describe data. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'calibrated into percentage' and 'table chart', which are not standard academic phrasing. Some terms are misused, such as 'at the glance' instead of 'at a glance'. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of reporting verbs (e.g., 'accounted for', 'constituted', 'represented') and ensure you are using precise terminology for statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'graduates who works', 'those graduates was working'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'Where as 12% was those graduates who are unemployed' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences have a clear structure with a subject and a verb before attempting more complex, multi-clause sentences.
