Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the reporting of the table data is slightly confusing. For instance, stating '10% in private equities' is inaccurate as the table lists sectors like 'Freelance consultants' and 'Government'. Additionally, the grouping of salary brackets could be more precise; you mention '100,000 plus' and then '25 grands to 50 grands', which is slightly informal. To improve, ensure you accurately label the categories provided in the prompt and maintain a formal tone throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific details for each visual. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'After the graduation', and 'The proportions of' helps the reader follow the progression of information. However, the transition between the two data sets could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow. To reach a higher band, ensure that the relationship between the data points is more explicitly linked rather than just listing figures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'proportion', 'destinations', and 'salary package'. However, there are some informal choices, such as 'grands' for thousands, which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. There are also minor spelling errors, such as 'umemployed' instead of 'unemployed'. To improve, avoid colloquialisms and focus on using precise academic terminology to describe trends and data points. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and comparative structures would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as '5% were continued their studies' (should be 'were continuing') and 'some of them ranged from 75 grands upto' (should be 'ranged from... to'). Punctuation is generally handled well, but there are minor issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without unnecessary word omissions.
